Manfrotto 393 for rental!

Posted on September 17, 2014 by Sean MacDonald
We are now renting the Manfrotto 393 head along with our robust 055XB legs!

This is a perfect setup for anyone who shoots fast moving objects with a long or heavy telephoto lens.
The advantage of a Gimbal style head like the 393 is that gravity is working in your favor instead of against you. With a traditional ball, three-way, or pan-tilt head, gravity is always fighting against you trying to pull the camera and lens to the side, front and back in a "fall-off" motion. Its like trying to balance an elephant on a ball :)

With a Gimbal style head, gravity is pulling in a direction that "centers" the lens. If you let go of the camera, it "falls" back to the rest position. This means that you are not fighting the weight of the gear, you are only pushing it when you need to move side to side or up and down.

This Manfrotto model is also designed with polyurethane washers so the action is very smooth. As always, the friction can be adjusted by loosening or tightening the knobs. This model also uses a long quick release plate to give not only more stability, but also the the ability to adjust the center of gravity based on your camera and lens combo.

We are mounting this head on the super rigid and robust 055 series aluminum legs that will handle any lens you throw at them!

This perfect setup can be rented for $20 per day for both the head and legs, (as always not charging for Sundays and Mondays). This head and leg combo will also be discounted to only $10 per day if renting the 70-200 f2.8 IS II and 2X extender as well.

This head is also sold in our store for $225.00 and the 055XB legs are $189.00 if you would like to make this your permanent setup.

This would make a perfect setup for shooting eagles this winter/spring! Call for availability.
